Vision & Goals

What do we plan to do and
What are our goals?

Lumina Verde is an integrative eco-retreat center in the Algarve that will act as a publicly accessible real laboratory for a sustainable heritage in Portugal. The synergy of medical expertise (Dr. Annika Ollig) and environmental engineering (Dipl. Wirt.-Ing. Martin C. Berger) will create a sustainable lighthouse project that can be felt, experienced and touched.

Our core objectives:

01

Organic farming with soil renaturation, preservation and promotion of biodiversity

02

Building sector transformation: Energetic transformation of the building sector by combining state-of-the-art construction techniques (ultra-light concrete) with traditional Portuguese building materials (combination of recycled concrete, cork, clay, wood, lime)

03

Re-establishment of historical, endangered fruit and vegetable varieties that are particularly adapted to the extreme weather conditions of the Algarve (dry/heat periods) - thus requiring less energy and water for cultivation

04

Creation of a gene bank for historical, seed-resistant seeds with access and dissemination to the local population (no genetic modification)

05

Promotion of year-round tourism through retreat offers, workshops and accommodation for guests in unusual, natural accommodation for approx. 20 guests (tree houses, tiny house concepts, yurts etc.)

06

Vegan restaurant: circular economy by processing products in the vegan restaurant

07

Regional product marketing : Sales outlet integrated into the retreat center for direct marketing of own products as well as products from surrounding local businesses

08

Medical expertise: offering evidence-based, reputable preventive healthcare, nutritional advice and cooking courses

09

Educational offer through workshops on topics such as establishing self-sufficient energy and water cycles in the home, organic farming and permaculture, health prevention, nutrition, new building techniques, etc.

10

Motivating visitors to live and build sustainably through direct experience and „hands-on“ courses

11

Creation of a central contact point where knowledge is collected, exchanged, communicated and preserved

12

Creating jobs for the local population

13

Creating a public place for guests and members of the community to meet and enjoy themselves
