Permaculture and
Nature conservation
From the soil to the plate: our vision of abundance & circulation
Welcome to our green heart! For us, it's about more than just horticulture - it's about a confession of love to the earth. At Lumina Verde, we live by the principles of permaculture and the organic circular economy.
What does that actually mean?
Imagine a system in which there is no waste, but everything is part of an eternal dance. We use what the land gives us:
- Own water: We draw on the resources of our property.
- Natural nutrients: Compost and green manure keep the soil alive, without any chemicals.
- Direct routes: What is harvested from the garden in the morning ends up in our vegan restaurant kitchen at lunchtime. It couldn't be fresher, more local and more honest!
Should nature ever present us with so much abundance that we cannot consume it directly, you will find these treasures in our local store - a piece of the Algarve to take home with you.
A living archive: diversity & climate resilience
We see our land as a field of research. We proudly cultivate old varieties of fruit and vegetables in our gardens. Why do we do this? Because we want to preserve historical seeds and find out which „original varieties“ can best whisper with the heat and dryness of our region.
Our mission: We are researching which plants show maximum vitality with minimum water consumption. In this way, we are shaping an agriculture that not only defies climate change, but actively provides answers.
Space for wilderness: nature conservation & reforestation
Not every square meter of our land belongs to people. We have deliberately reserved areas as fallow land and nature reserves. Nature is simply allowed to be here. We actively reforest these areas to create habitats for local fauna and cool the microclimate. A forest of the future that is taking root today.
Become part of the movement: Workshops & inspiration
Would you like to uncover the secret of the „green thumb“? We share our knowledge with you in our workshops. Learn with us:
How permaculture works on a small and large scale.
How you can transfer biological cycles to your garden.
How to keep pests at bay with smart plant combinations and reap a bumper harvest in even the smallest of spaces without chemicals
How to garden in a resource-conserving way and manage your garden self-sufficiently with sophisticated organic systems
How to garden in harmony with the elements and use them to your advantage
How intense and different the “real fruit and vegetables” taste straight from the ground - in contrast to what we know from the supermarket
What pure happiness can feel like: Cool earth on your hands, the little explosion of taste when a delicious tomato bursts in your mouth straight from the bush and the sun tickles your face while your gaze is lost in the endless expanse of the Algarve's hinterland. The feeling of finally being reconnected with yourself and the world.
